ASTM or AAI Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)

AEG has conducted hundreds of Phase I ESAs in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Our Phase I ESA investigation consists of a site reconnaissance, a local agency review, state and federal file review(s), owner/occupant interviews, historical site use research and physical and/or geographic feature determination.

AEG provides clearly stated reports that can be tailored to your requirements. AEG always strives to meet client deadlines and will work closely with our clients so that we can best determine the specific project needs are met.

Past Project:

Commercial Property, Natick, MA

Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)

AEG has also conducted hundreds of Phase II ESAs.  A Phase II ESA is typically required when a potential source of contamination has been discovered, either through an environmental consultant’s Phase I ESA or an owner’s knowledge. Phase II ESAs usually consist of soil and groundwater sampling, but it may also include air, building materials and/or process waste sampling, drain discharge line determination and physical feature investigations (such as locating Underground Storage Tanks [USTs], septic testing or testing of soils).  Phase II ESAs encompass a wide range of services, and each is tailored to a specific project.

Past Projects:

Rhode Island
Site Investigation & Cleanup, Middletown, RI

Massachusetts
Commercial Property, Natick, MA

Soil and Groundwater Sampling

AEG has conducted numerous types of sampling.  No two jobs are the same, therefore, we design a testing program for each specific site and/or project.  These programs may include the testing of petroleum products and fingerprinting, hazardous materials, metals, Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), disposal requirements, pesticides/fertilizers, VOCs and SVOCs.

Past Projects:

Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST):  Main Street, Pawtucket, RI

Chlorinated Solvent Release:  Industrial Property, Johnston, RI

Building Materials Sampling

Older commercial buildings are often times buildings constructed with now-banned materials (i.e., materials that contain asbestos, lead based paint, etc.), materials that have been affected by hazardous process wastes or that many have moisture issues that could lead to mold or structural damage.  AEG can help to identify all these potential building materials issues.

Past Projects:

Asbestos/Lead Based Paint (LBP):  Carrington Street, Lincoln, RI

Moisture/Mold:  Office Building, Beverly, MA

Landfill Monitoring

AEG would be pleased to use our extensive experience in monitoring groundwater, landfill gas, stormwater or other potential environmental impacts for your project.  We have worked with both smaller, private landfills as well as larger, municipal landfills to help our clients comply with State and Federal environmental regulations and to determine if current operations are meeting the approved design or applicable regulations.

Indoor Air

Indoor air quality can be compromised in your home, at work, at school or any other public places.  It can be affected by the building’s heating system, groundwater contamination, vehicular traffic, industrial emissions, geological formations or mold spores.  Some people are more sensitive to airborne contaminants due to allergies, asthma or a compromised immune system.  AEG can develop a testing program to determine levels of contaminants, compare the results to applicable standards as well as implement remedial measures.  We are familiar with the most recent Indoor Air Guidelines used by all of the New England states, and we have experience applying these guidelines as well.

Past Projects:

Radon:  Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick, RI

Chemical Vapors:  Smith Street, Providence, RI

Ambient Air

Many of the same constituents that affect indoor air may also be a problem outside in high traffic or heavy industrial emissions.  AEG can design and implement a testing program for ambient air in order to determine whether levels of contaminants are of concern.  AEG will also consult on pathways to reduce the generation of contaminants and their potential impacts to health.

Past Project:

School Bus Barn, CT

Facility Emissions

Stationary sources of air emissions are often regulated by local, state and federal agencies. AEG can perform emergency or routine monitoring and prepare and submit required applications to meet compliance requirements.  We have experience in testing emissions from combustion sources, air pollution control devices and general exhaust vents.
