In the fall of 2004, AEG was contracted to design a retaining wall in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, to replace an unstable and collapsing existing retaining wall. AEG worked with the subcontractor to develop a design that would allow for minimal impacts to a wetland buffer less than 50 feet away. AEG received the required wetlands permit from CRMC in a timely manner to construct the wall at the appropriate seasonal period. Modifications were made during removal of the existing wall when excavation revealed that stable soils were approximately 5 to 10 feet deeper than expected. AEG was involved in the design and overseeing the construction.
