North Washington Street (Environmental Permitting and Compliance)

In the summer and fall of 2004, AEG was contracted to close an RTN, placed on a Site in 1995, in Boston, Massachusetts. A Reportable condition at the Site was called in by a member of the Boston Fire Department in January of 1995 during the removal of an on-Site UST which revealed subsurface non-aqueous phase liquid. On August 14, 2004, AEG oversaw the removal of two 3,000-gallon gasoline USTs. Upon removal, the tanks appeared in sound condition and the soil in the tank grave did not appear stained. Soil sampled throughout the Site revealed levels of petroleum based contaminants at the groundwater interface above applicable MCP Method 1 Risk Standards. Groundwater sampled at the Site revealed levels of VPH fractions above applicable MCP Method 1 Risk Standards. However, based upon both the groundwater and VPH plume contour, the apparent groundwater impact appears to be originating from an identified off-Site source. AEG is in the process of applying for a down-gradient property status.
